Ed & Michelle Congleton Family

Ed and I lived in Southern California our whole lives. When we were young, Southern California was a wonderful place to live with orange orchards and open space. Over the past 10-20 years California changed alot. The orange groves and open space were replaced by housing and commercial properties and one town ran into another. As the population increased, the beauty of Southern California was replaced with traffic, smog, streets, freeways and too many people. Ed and I dreamed of relocating somewhere we could enjoy the outdoors and a lifestyle that was more like it use to be when we were kids.

After talking about it for several years we finally decided to go for it and got out the map and researched every state. We considered the weather, economics, populations, safety and beauty. We had a wish list that included living by a bike trail, lake, pool, safe and friendly neighborhood and smaller friendly town. Since we are both outdoor people sun was on the top of our list. We picked Colorado for mainly that reason. For months you could find me on the computer researching towns in Colorado. We had friends who were moving to Loveland so that is how we decided on Northern Colorado. After months of researching, we found our home on Teal Court in Windsor on the Internet. It seemed to have everything we wanted. We made a trip out with our kids and fell in love with Water Valley and the house we had found on the Internet. We made an offer that was accepted and went home reluctantly to sell our home in California.

In November of 2007 we finally sold our home in Chino, California and moved into our new home in Colorado. Colorado and Water Valley turned out to be much more than what we expected. We love having the golf course and Austin's Restaurant within walking distance and love to ride our golf cart rather than a car to the Bungalow Coffee Shop for a coffee or to Subway for a sandwich. Our kids catch frogs and go fishing on the lakes and we love to hang out at the pool or lake. We couldn't believe how friendly everyone is here. We feel so fortunate to have found such a wonderful place to live and raise our kids.

Moved from Columbus, GA; Water Valley residents since 2003 - Retired

"We were going to retire in Florida, but moved out here to be closer to our kids and grand kids. Originally, we bought a townhome on the beach near the clubhouse but have since moved into Water Valley South into a single family home where we have more room for all our stuff. We were attracted to the lakes in Water Valley and it's just amazing that there is this much water here. Water Valley and Windsor sit in the middle of three pretty nice sized towns that are 10-15 minutes away. It is just a wonderful place to retire."

Water Valley residents since 2006; relocated from Greeley, CO

We were living in Greeley when we had our first tour of Water Valley. It was love at first sight! We were on our way to the clubhouse for lunch on a warm summer day and several high school kids were playing beach volleyball and swimming in the lake as we walked by the pool. I remember thinking that I would love for my kids to have that "kind of life". At the clubhouse, we were seated outside on the patio that overlooks the golf course, lakes, swimming pool and mountains ~ this was when we decided that WE wanted this "kind of life". Water Valley felt like a vacation! We sold our home in Greeley and built a home in Water Valley South five years ago. We love that we can play in the lake in the morning, catch a round of golf in the afternoon and cruise over to one of the restaurants (in the golf cart) for dinner. We have made many wonderful friends in Water Valley. The activities that are available have a way of bonding the community. As a realtor, I take great pride in the community that I live and find that Water Valley is always the easiest market to sell. Who wouldn't want this quality of life?

Moved to Water Valley in 2004 from Manhattan, KS

My move was job related and I could live anywhere in Colorado. One evening I was driving from Greeley to Loveland and decided to turn off on the Windsor exit and check out the community. Driving north on Hwy 257, I looked over and saw a lake and a golf course, then saw a Water Valley sign. I ended up having supper that evening at the golf club and met a lot of wonderful people. The next day I returned and visited the Water Valley corporate office and knew then this was where I wanted to live. Water Valley is one of Colorado's gems: its beauty, the mountain views, the lakes, the golf courses... but for me the people who live here are the main reason Water Valley is so special. I love seeing all of the families on the beaches, the pool is packed in the summer, and the golf is amazing. Water Valley is also very centrally located, and everything I need is only 10-15 minutes away in Fort Collins, Loveland, or Greeley.
